Need Some Advice around Key Largo FL

My family and I are going to be in Key Largo for a week. The place we rented comes with a nice 23 ft power boat. Growing up on a Lake in Wisconsin I grew up around boats. I have also done some sailing on Lake Superior and down in the Virgin Islands.

I have been looking for some resources on good places to visit while we are in the Keys next week. I am looking for some places we can spend the afternoon, eat lunch and enjoy a desolate beach? In all my searching on the web I just can't find that many good recommendations.

I don't know about a desolate beach, but I always enjoyed taking a ride down Card Sound Road when I lived in Miami.

And, you can stop at Alabama Jacks for a brew!

We don't really have beaches in the keys. It's all about the coral reefs so snorkeling/diving is want you want to check out. There is one sort of beach type island called Ness Key. Might find it deserted on a week day. Lots of restaurants to visit by boat also.
