$3500/month to cruise the Med in high season realistic or no.

$3500/month to cruise the Med in high season realistic or no. The boat's ready just concerned about my budget for fuel, food, fees, moorings, berths, etc.

Thx.

It obviously depends on where, the size of boat and your preferred mix of marinas, town quays, anchorages and meals out etc.
To give you a guide, in Croatia with a 11.5m catamaran, 2 people, we can live pretty well for about €2500 / month on the following mix.
Marinas rarely, hideous price
Town quays 1 day in 3, not cheap
Anchor or mooring 2 days in 3
Eat out 1 day in 3
Coffees and drinks at cafes
Food ingredients are fairly cheap
As is local beer and wine of which we consume our share

Hmmm... over 600 euros a week.. should just manage.
Mind that does depend on your tastes.. and the size of your boat..

19K Croatia Kuna (HrK) should be plenty to see you around here for a month. Depending on when you are cruising and where you are planning on heading for. If you plan on August and the tourist hot spots then expect to pay extra, especially on a cat but if you can avoid the main marinas by mooring in a smaller bay/town mooring etc then taking the bus to the main town you can save a few £$€ etc.

Many bays do have mooring buoys and you will pay for these based on length and there are a few bays where they will charge you for anchoring, although these are rare, as it is based on the concession for that bay. If you are planning on eating out that night anyway look for a konoba (restaurant) with mooring buoys as basically you will get your night free.

To be honest August is the worst month for cruising Croatia and I suspect the rest of the Med too. It is the height of the season, when all the schools are off and everyone is on holiday. In Croatia we suffer an Italian invasion as the "ferogusto" is in full swing as everyone with a boat on the east coast of Italy comes over. Avoid if you can and come here in September or even October instead.

Cheers

Keiron

If you're on a big boat and plan to spend all your time eating at 5 star restaurants and docked at fancy marinas in Monaco, the Riveria and the Balearics then plan $3500 might last you a week.

Spend your time in the less expensive areas, anchor most nights and eat most meals on board you will have money left over.

Your plans and style will control the costs.

I Agree.

We anchor 100% of the time in the Balerics on $1000-$1500 per month, just groceries and eating out a couple of times per week. If we stayed in marinas and ate out twice as much, the price could easily exceed $6000 per month.

The OP needs to be much more specific in tastes, location and size of boat.

Re: $3500/month to cruise the Med in high season realistic or no.

Sailing ground is the key. 3500 will cover food, mooring fees, drinks, diesel, a few touristy flutters in the Ionian islands. BUT, no fancy marinas, 20% on the hook, only occasional power at town quays. Lunch, a pita yiros, $3, dinner grilled sardines $10, Greek salad $8. Fruit and veggies cheap and excellent, meat about the same as home.

Or you can blow the lot in marina fees alone in most marinas in western Italy most any time in summer

Re: $3500/month to cruise the Med in high season realistic or no.

Confirming that the Roman coast has very high moorage and slip fees compared to the Caribbean, or even the U.S.

Except for that, Europe can be very affordable as long as you have a steady stream of income.

There are some rules about how long you can stay in a certain country before having to pay some kind of tax... others here will know more about that than I do.

Do you have provided healthcare, or does that come out of your $3500 budget? Are you a US or European Citizen? Or otherwise? Is that 3500 pretax or post tax?
