Weather advice FL to West End

How is the crossing in Nov/Dec from West coast of Florida to West End? Any suggestions on taking a30' bayliner?

Totally dependent on the weather. That time of year can be anything from flat calm, to pray for death! More likely to be on the iffy side! Your choice of boats not the best for a rough crossing.

Re: Weather advice FL to West End

I'll second what Tingum said. If a cold front passes through FL it could be very windy and rough. No front or other weather system things could be quite calm.

That early in the year fronts are less likely but no guarantee. The only thing you can do is monitor the weather in general and specifically marine weather for the Gulf Stream on the east coast when you plan to cross.

You are taking a power boat? If so, on a calm day shouldn't take more than 2-3 hours to cross. Get up early, no fronts are imminently arriving and conditions are calm then zoom on over.

You do have a marine radio in the boat?

Thank you for the advice. We aren't in any hurry so we can monitor the weather a lot closer and be picky about the timing.
We are still looking for groups that make the trip and do a buddy boat ride over. Still looking.
