I'll second what Tingum said. If a cold front passes through FL it could be very windy and rough. No front or other weather
system things could be quite calm.
That early in the year fronts are less likely but no guarantee. The only thing you can do is monitor
the weather in general and specifically marine
weather for the Gulf Stream
on the east coast
when you plan to cross.
You are taking a power boat
? If so, on a calm day shouldn't take more than 2-3 hours to cross. Get up early, no fronts are imminently arriving and conditions are calm then zoom on over.
