Sadly the news and media coverage seems to focus more on the wind speed strength and does not give enough emphasis to the danger of the storm surge (IMHO).

A few of our local geologists have speculated that the weight of the water displacement from the storm surge, over such a wide area, may be affecting the faultlines.

The hurricanes we experienced when I was a child were nothing like these monsters. Mother Nature reinforcing who's boss.

The weather channel and weather network have been talking a lot about storm surge with lots of graphics to emphasize the power of surges.

Hopefully Irma will have lowered sea temperatures a bit leaving Jose less to feed on. I wouldn't want to be trying to predict anything. Four hurricanes in 2 weeks isn't normal so it's unlikely anything will follow historical paths either.
