Re: Lagoon 620 as a Bluewater Cruiser for Circumnavigation ?

Xquisite Yachts 50' catamaran on display won the best multihull over 30' award on the boat show">Miami Boat Show, so I guess this talks for the quality of the boat.

Once again, how do we know the quality that Xquisite yachts puts out since the boat at the Miami boat show was built by Dean not Xquisite.

Re: Lagoon 620 as a Bluewater Cruiser for Circumnavigation ?

Although the boat on XQUISITE YACHTS display was designed and started by Dean Cats, they have gone bankrupt before they could finish it.
Xquisite Yachts is a completely new factory with high tech equipment building with CAD/CNC and vinylester resin infusion.
They built a completely new set of moulds with tons of improvements including changes on the hull shape and layouts.
The new boats are built by highly experienced catamaran experts, such as Colin Etheridge, the former GM of Robertson & Caine.
The vessel was displayed on two boat shows in the last two years, and won the highest award on both of these:
- Best Multihull below 57' on the Tortola Charter Yacht Show
- Best Multihull over 30' on the Miami Boat Show
These awards have been voted by some of the best professionals in the industry.
Xquisite Yachts builds a boat that is even higher quality than the original Dean boats with tons of improvements, so there is no doubts that the new vessels will be even better, as they redesigned the hulls and reduced the weight by 15-20% building in infusion.
You can find all this information in the last issue of Multihulls Quarterly Magazine, but I believe there will be even more coverage of Xquisite Yachts in the near future, since they won the 'best in show'.

All I remember was the big DEAN sticker on the side of the boat. That boat was built by Dean and in no way, good or bad does it reflect on Xquisite Yachts. We can judge Xquisite Yachts quality once they build one and take it to the show.

Re: Lagoon 620 as a Bluewater Cruiser for Circumnavigation ?

The next model will be the X5 POWER in 2016, and later in the future the X6 (62'), but that won't happen until 2018.

Re: Lagoon 620 as a Bluewater Cruiser for Circumnavigation ?

First time I have ever seen the Xquisite Yachts 50.
This breaks all the rules of how a cat design should be in regards of performance and safety. How can anyone even consider this condo for sailing?

Do you know who the hull designer was/is? The website indicates who the builders are but not the designer.

Re: Lagoon 620 as a Bluewater Cruiser for Circumnavigation ?

The original design was developed by the chief designer or Dean Cats, who became the chief designer of Xquisite Yachts.
The X5 SAIL is a highly improved new yacht, which was redesigned by the original designer using the input of two owners of the original Dean yachts, who sailed 24,000 and 14,000 nautical miles on the Dean 5000 boats.
All this cruising liveaboard experience led to the decision that Xquisite Yachts built a completely new set of moulds with redesigned hull shape and new layouts to build the new X5 SAIL and POWER in infusion.
The production is led by the former general manager of Robertson & Caine, while the designer is the former deisgner from Dean Cats.
I hope this helps!
