Crew Wanted: Day Sailing, Short Cruises from Haverstraw, NY

My dog and I are always happy to have the company of folks who enjoy sailing or would like to learn. We sail most weekends on Haverstraw Bay in the lower Hudson River. Once or twice during the season, we may take a short cruise.

We take a longer cruise mid-June to mid-July, but we already have company for that.

Don't hesitate to get in touch, if you'd like a day (or two or three) on the water.

I received a most ridiculous email from some twisted sister in DC this morning. I had politely declined her request to come aboard, because my wife would not be comfortable with unknown single ladies. I invited her to bring along a significant other, but apparently her anger management training didn't take hold, and she felt compelled to accuse me of some unstated ulterior motives.

Apparently, "Hell hath no fury...etc."

In my response, I advised her that I also don't sail with idiots, which would also preclude her.

Upon reflection, I realize that I actually have sailed with idiots. But they were relatives.

Sounds like fun! I'm in Stony Point and often drive by and just watch the sailboats. Though I have sailed a bit the last couple of years, I learned a lot but have a lot more to learn. Do love the feeling of freedom too! Schedules fairly flexible. Plz email me if you and your pup still want some occasional, company and see what we can do about getting together sometime. Not sailing with idiots is a really good choise!!! I wouldn't either even as just a passenger. Now, Now Teknav, how else am I to see if DennisM is still looking but to ask? And if he is, I'd want to meet him before stepping foot on board, wouldn't you? Oh, the pink... i always use it.

Okay, here's why I'm cautious. Three seasons ago, I made a similar offer and received a reply from a woman who was indeed very serious about wanting more sailing experience. Unfortunately, after she came aboard, it became clear that she was also interested in some sort of a relationship.

I married my best friend 23 years ago, so the situation was very uncomfortable for me, not only aboard my boat, but also later when telling the story to my wife. I'd like to avoid that kind of discomfort in the future.
