Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz, Mex. to Seattle early April 2012

Hey, my name's Miro, I am from Edmonton, Alberta, 18 years old, and in good shape. Although my sailing experience is limited I know it's something I want to do more of, and perhaps dedicate a good portion of my life to. In the summer of 2008 I sailed from Hawaii to Victoria, BC on a 50 foot schooner with three other men and last summer I did some sailing on my dad's Cal 27, so I'm not totally green. Anyway, if you're fine with fairly inexperienced sailers who'll put in hard work, I'm your man!
Thanks, Miroslav Sepkowski-Cook.

Miro;

Thanks for expressing your willingness to join us up the coast, but I think I'd prefer to have someone with a bit more experience.

Thanks Anyway.

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz, Mex. to Seattle early April 2012

This voyage is an excellent opportunity to follow the grey whale migration up the coast.
And we will be stopping frequently along the way for fuel and provisions, or just to rest up for a day or two.

Planned stops in Mexico at:
Bahia Los Muertos, Bahia Friles, Isla Partida, Cabo San Lucas, Bahia Magdelana, and Turtle Bay

Stops in California at: San Diego, Channel Islands, Moro Bay and San Francisco.

Stops in Oregon: Coos Bay possibly others.

Stops in Washington: Grays Harbor, Neah Bay, Port Townsend, Seattle.

I am interested in crewing with you. I attempted to send a "Private Message" but got a message disallowing the private message before one becomes a "trusted member" If you can email me, I'll reply with personal and sailing qualifications.

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz, Mex. to Seattle early April 2012

One crew position is still available for the leg from San Diego, Ca to Seattle, Wa. This leg of the voyage is expected to begin May 1-5, departing from San Diego's Shelter Island.

We will be making frequent stops as we sail north along the California coast. Stops will probably be made at Oceanside, Ventura, Morro Bay, Monterey Bay, San Diego, and possibly Crescent City.

In Oregon and Washington we will stop less frequently. Stops might be made at Coos Bay or Newport, Grays Harbor, Neah Bay and Shilshole Bay (Seattle).

The trip from San Diego to Seattle will take about 3-weeks.

If interested tell me about yourself and your sailing experience.

Thanks!

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz, Mex. to Seattle early April 2012

I am very interested in the crew position available and the leg from San Diego to San Francisco (continuing to Seattle if you need). I have just moved from the east coast and I am looking forward to doing this leg myself on my own boat, however I would be thrilled to take it with an experienced captain first. This would be ideal for me. I typically solo sail and have mainly coastal experience. I've been sailing regularly since semi retiring 6 years ago.

However, I fail to meet one of your qualifications - I am a 44 year old female. I hope you will reconsider the criteria, as I can present a strong argument in my favor whatever the hesitation may be with having a female aboard.

Thanks for your time and please let me know if you would consider me for crew. I'll gladly provide more information then.

KJ

Thanks for your interest in this crew position...The one criteria that do not meet is one that doesn't have any wiggle room, sorry.

No beer for 2 months. Jeesh. It's like a slave ship.

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz, Mex. to Seattle early April 2012

Sandcrab;

That's funny but we're not a slave ship I can assure you.

Beer, wine and spirits are OK as long as the boat is safely anchored or moored.

I just want to send thge message that I will not have impared crew on my boat.

I've seen too many boats (motor boats and sailboat included) underway with crew and skipper comfortably grasping a martini in on hand and the engine throttle or wheele in the other. That kind of behavior risks lives and exposes the skipper to criminal prosecution. Sometimes its diffiecult enough to handle a boat in heavy seas stone cold sober...drinking while sailing increases the chances of injury and accidents.

I will be not risk my boat or crew by allowing alcohol while we are underway.

Hope this clarifies this issue.

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz Mexico to Seattle - Early April 2012

Still looking for crew.

I need crew for the trip up the coast from San Diego to Seattle.

I'm thinking that if we break this up into two segments:

1 crewman needed for:
San Diego to San Francisco...approx dates: May 1 thru May 10

1 crewman needed for:
San Francisco to Saettle ...approx dates: May 15 to June 1.

Qualifications:
sailing experince
physically fit
not prone to seasickness
emotionally mature
