Best of luck to you in finding your crew, skipper. I recognize your boat name from the Baja Ha Ha this past year. I was on a 46' Hallberg Rassy called "Liberation II." I'd love to help you, but I'm back on the east coast now. Fair winds.

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz Mexico to Seattle - Early April 2012

I would be interested in helping from San Diego to S.F. or S.F. to Seattle. I have many years of experience. I am currently holding a OUPV license and just returned from a delivery from Zihau, to Banderras Bay. It would be easier for me to have you email me directly at apm3kbm@aol.com or call me on my cell at 310 997 5466 Thanks, Alex

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz Mexico to Seattle - Early April 2012

Hello,

I am very interested in your journey from start to Seattle. I am a 33 y/o male. Native to Minnesota. I am in excellent physical shape (just completed the Miami Marathon on January 29th). I am a certified Rescue Diver with over 50 logged scuba dives, and I have spent my fair-share of time on boats. That said, I do not have much sailing experience at all. I am a skilled carpenter and quick with mechanical questions and fixes, so my learning curve may be shorter than most. I do not smoke. I am quite mature, do not need to have a drink and was just re-certified in EFR (emergency first responder). Willing to do anything. Definitely willing to work.

You can contact me @ patrick.laughlin.33@gmail.com.

Thank you very much for your time.

Patrick

You all might want to check the op's profile and note that he has not been back to the forum since the 25th of March.

My guess is he found crew.

Hope OP does not mind me answering for him, but he is currently enroute from Cabo to San Diego. Is most likely not checking this forum as he mostly likely does not have much internet access.

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz Mexico to Seattle - Early April 2012

Sound like you have made this trip before?
Other possible good stops:
Pillar Point (aka Half Moon Bay) is easier in and out then the SF Bay--/Tides/Fog etc.
No short relief from Punta Gorda and Mendocino..
Brookings is an excellent stop and staging for your assault on Cape Blanco as Crescent City is still messed up from the Tsunami.
STAY OUT OF BANDON OREGON.
I try to pass Neah Bay and make Port Angeles on my trip around Flattery. Did so twice in the past 2 months..and twice last year.

Last year, August/September took me 21 days from Long Beach to Lake Washington on Catalina 38. The only thing broken aboard was a sump pump switch to a head shower sump that didn't work in the first place. Was delivering home my second Trans Pac boat that retired from the race and headed back to Long Beach. First was Hawaii to Marina Del Rey. I raced over on that one..

Good luck!

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz Mexico to Seattle - Early April 2012

Elskede, More than happy to give you as much insight I have on the West Coast of the US. I have plenty of good tips! I am also a Baja specialist having made it North and South bound more than 40 times. I actually love the north bound trip from Cabo to San Diego. Perhaps my most favorite of all. Seriously! I have known the Turtle Bay 'Gordo Fuel' Brothers, Enrique and Ernesto since my frist trip in 1971 and also their father, Gordo himself. Bring them white tennis/levi pants shoes every time I come through. Have 2 pairs of 9 and 9 1/2 for my November trip to Panama.

can email me at earthakat at msn dot com. My advise is free...
cheers!

Re: Crew Wanted - La Paz Mexico to Seattle - Early April 2012

PS. Assuncion and Hippolito also have fuel at the PEMEX station if you can't quiite make Turtle Bay. Dinghy and 5 gallon jugs in Hippolito, but there is a very nice Lady who will bring fuel to your boat in Assuncion. She can be reached on Channel 16. Her husband is a Gringo and she will try to sell you timeshare in Assuncion.. who knew!?

Cheers, Jeffry
