Re: Hughes 38 Mk3

Wow! 185 views and not a single comment or question.Although the typical S&S lines are not like the latest trends in hull shape she is a very easily driven hull, and a very seaworthy, proven design.I have no problem handling this boat solo.It has to be one of the cleanest and best equiped H 38's on the market, and no old gas engine below. It hasn't been on the beach either. The 20hp. engine cruises along just fine at 5.5 kn. at 2500 rpm with modified Campbell sailer prop.Averaging about 1/3 to 1/2 gall. per hr.Top speed under power is 7 kn. With 4 jerry cans I have about 500 mile range.A couple of corrections; Autopilot is Raymarine X5 Smartpilot with 6001 control head. System is all Seatalk. One dinghy is rollup Northstar 8.5 ft.,other is small hardshell, good for rowing. There is 200 ft. 3/4" nylon rode at chains end. Other anchors are 40lb. Danforth and 33lb. Bruce, both with chain and rode. New windlass not yet installed, old S&L Seahorse works but a little tired. Has carbon monoxide detectors and propane solenoid switch. Bilge pump is remote Flojet. Repainting deck is on my list, bottom is blister free. Thanks for looking. New price; $49k

'Pretty sure the Hughes 38 is the same model Captain Fatty Goodlander (Cruising World magazine contributor, author, singer, etc) just completed his 2nd circumnavigation on. It must be a very good boat!

Re: Hughes 38 Mk3

I've saw this boat before it left BC, she was detailed and fully loaded to go. There's not many 38'ers out there that you can step onto and go cruising for under 50k, someone needs to jump on this deal.

Good luck with her Geoff.

Pictures do not appear to be under your profile, or at least I can't see them.

Maybe put them on here?
