Solar Panel & solid SS rail

Jef, the modifications were made by our local FP distributors, EC Marine, here in Australia. They came up with the concept, which I really liked and went along with. I have asked them to give me the technical details which I will post here once I receive them. They have also made some simple but very handy mods, such as putting a hydraulic strut where the anchor storage is, which holds the lid up even with wind and chop. If you like I can take some pics of those mods and post them here as well.

JC, I have attached a broader view of the solid SS rail. It is really useful as it holds the BBQ and solar panels. I can attach my rod holder(s) to it. Also, it seems to provide greater safety astern in that we are holding on to a solid ss rail.

Cheers!

John

I would love to see the anchor locker support, I just have a rope tied to the hatch for now but it is not the best solution.
Thanks for sharing.

What type of solar panel did you use and why did you choose to place it above the davits and not on top of the bimini. I am considering an install.

Hope to leave Stamford CT on 10/31 or 11/1, depends on the weather. How was your summer?

Question for the forum, is anyone familiar with a boat yard in Northern/ Central FL with a lift that can handle a Mahe 36 and may be able to do some minor gel coat work. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've used Scorpion's marina in Port Canaveral for a recent haul out. They have a new lift with a 28' beam and haul a lot of Cat's. you can see them on www.scorpionmarine.com. They did a nice bottom job on my Mahe.

Eric is the owners son and runs the marina, Phil works for Eric and runs the yard. I was there 2 weeks ago so they should remember my boat.
Good luck

Yep, Newport Scorpion Bay is the place. Not sure if they'll let you do anything yourself though. Cracker Boy in Ft. Pierce (DIY yard) isn't wide enough, Riverside in Ft. Pierce is 22 feet wide and will let you do your own work and Harbourtown in Ft. Pierce can haul you but you can't do anything. But Ft. Pierce is a couple day sail south of Canaveral anyways. Good Luck.

Scott: I have attached a photo of strut as requested. Cheers!

Lonnie: Our solar panels are made by Kyocera, and the controller is by Morningstar Corp, PA. Hope this helps.

The clearance height to the top of the mast is 55' if you have the VHF antenna at the top of the mast add another 4 feet for a total of 59'.
