Really? Pity that it is on the download page for 4.4 and 4.2 versions of OCPN then.. it caught me out mid Atlantic a couple of weeks back. Where is a working download, for Windows and Linux located?

Re: Weather Routing

I see that

Code:
Weather Routing v1.10.1, Released 2016-07-23
has been restored to the plugins download page at OpenCPN.org a little before 13:00 UTC on 02 Sep 2016.

Re: Weather Routing

I have Weather routing plugin version 1.10 on Ocpn 4.2.

How do you edit a position ?

If I delete a position and then enter the same name I get a question
if I want to overwrite the old one. Answering yes does not display
the name given.

Re: Weather Routing

if you delete a position then create a new position with the old name it shoul dnot prompt to replace.

If you create a new position using an existing name it prompts to replace.

The behavior you describe is not what I'm seeing

I have now tried it on Ocpn 4.4.0 as well.

If I delete a position the file
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing\Wea therRoutingConfiguration.xml
is updated but the deleted position is still in the file.
The position disappear in the weather routing window but
when I restart Ocpn that deleted position is visible again.
To get rid of it I need to edit the conf. file manually.

So it feels like the conf. file is not updated correctly.

Re: Weather Routing

So, this is what i did.

Downloaded source from git and placed it under plugins.
Compiled a debug version of OpenCPN.

Started VS2012 and set a break point in SaveConfig of weather_routing_pi.cpp

Then I let OpenCPN exit.
Break point is never hit.

I.e. at exit the code never gets to the SaveConfig function.
Searching for SaveConfig shows it is not called anywhere in weather_routing_pi.cpp.

Searching the src-dir reveals that there are only 2 files containing the word SaveConfig and that are the 2 files weather_routing_pi.cpp and weather_routing_pi.h

Where is SaveConfig supposed to be called from ?

Maybe I am overlooking something but the 2 functions LoadConfig and SaveConfig seem to be identical besides their names.

Re: Weather Routing

This function is no longer used.

What happens if you delete WeatherRoutingConfiguration.xml? Does it get recreated when you exit? This file should contain the positions.

Re: Weather Routing

I need another windows user to confirm this. Anyone?

I think it's to do with xml library collision between core and plugins and is a ridiculous problem especially in how it differs in windows vs other operating systems.

Re: Weather Routing

Sean,

Running Windows 10 if a weather routing position is deleted in the dialog, it disappears from the Positions column. However it is saved in the WeatherRoutingConfiguration.xml before OpenCPN exits. The next time OpenCPN is run and Weather Routing lists the Positions, the one that was previously deleted is again listed.

Deleting a Configuration works as expected. Deleted Configurations are not saved in the .xml file.

I see this behavior in my builds of OpenCPN 4.5.x with WR 1.10.1 and with
OpenCPN 4.0.0 with Weather Routing 1.2.

Polar: Failed

With ocpn 4.4 and wr 1.10 on a completely clean install on Win10 I keep getting a status error of "Polar: Failed".

I've tried different polars among those installed by default and get the same error with all.

Am I missing something with the new boat setup?

Re: Weather Routing

polar failed means the polar doesn't define a boat speed for the given conditions. So maybe your grib file indicates a higher or lower wind speed than what the boat knows how to use?

Re: Weather Routing

David,
Have you tried a shorter routing with a different grib?
I think Sean fixed the problem where the wind speeds were greater than the polar...

Have you been loading polars from "Open Boat"?
I have been away from this plugin for a little while and the last time I used it it was working, but had to use data from
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing for XML boat file
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing\dat a\polars for polars file
The reason for this was the plugin was trying to write back to files that were protected under ProgramFiles (x86) which would not work.

I have been using my compiled version of Wxroute 1.10 and it seems to reject loading all polar files now. Also the dropdown for control of Climatology isn't working, but that may be because I don't have climatology installed...

I need an hour to work on this. Later today perhaps.

and need to work with it. None of my polars are working right now.

Re: Weather Routing

How do I look up the wind angle per route segment in the calculted weather route or perhaps any other plugin. This helps me in planning the sail configuration up front.

thank you

Re: Weather Routing

The latest WR_pi-1.10.1-ov4-sean-win32.exe I have installed keeps on ignoring Detect land boundaries it recognizes drawn area boundaries. This results in routes over land. I tried ENC vector and OpenSea raster charts and are a bit at a loss how to enforce land boundaries. Any help appreciated
