Well, then on "Highlight tracks," It's simple, do a simulation with NavMonPc (because you can not currently use VDR) and you'll see:

With or without OpenGL : The track is highlighted And it works well.

Best regards

Sorry but my screenshots are not very meaningful

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1227

To see the highlighting of a track you have to zoom in much more.
Remember that the highlighting is only covering 10 m either side of he track.
At a scale of 183900 that would correspond to ~0.05mm on the screen.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1227

One issue that must be targeted soon is scaling of own vessel. When zooming it should reflect the vessel size no matter what scale it shows.
The own ship icon covers to much when zoomed in.

This should have been addressed for a long time ago...

Wish you all a happy new year!

Total openGL happiness on Windows 7 64 bit. Dave, the errors I saw with previous versions for the San Diego charts are gone. Machine is a core i3-330m, supporting openGL 2.1. Tested with CM93, NOAA ENC, and NOAA RNC and all work fine.

Hotrod....

Not sure what you are referring to with ownship icon size.
In the config file, we can specify the ownship real size:

Code:
[Settings]
OwnshipLengthMeters=12
12 M is default.

When I zoom in to a well charted wharf, for instance, it looks about right to me.
Do you have a picture which we could examine?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1227

Ok...
Own ship, marks, ais targets and such icons on the map - static or moving.
They should all scale to match the chart scale... Now they are same scale nomatter what map scale your in.
See my screenshots, first one at close zoom (500), next one is further out (3700).

Own vessel should reflect the size of the vessel (needs a field to put in lenght from bow to gps antenna and from stern to gps antenna (=lenght), lenght from port side to gps and from starboard side to gps (=width)).
The size of the own ship symbol should then scale to match the map scale.

AIS targets should reflect vesselsize given in AIS message, if size is missing from the ais message (some AIS-B), it should have a standard size (e.g. 15 meters by 4 meters) but still scale with the mapscale.

Other symbols as marks should also scale with the chart, so when zooming out, they should get smaller...

Most plotters has this as a standard feature, not all can set own ship size, but they scale to match the mapscale.
If you zoom out in OCPN, own ship symbol covers a wide area...

Hope this can be fixed some time soon.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1227

Hotrod....

Thanks for the input.

All this sounds like an extended feature request, not a bug that needs fixing.
Feel free to add it to the Flyspray Feature Request Tracker.

I note that IHO recommendations for S52 PLIB displays do not provide for scaling of marks/text with zoom, for what its worth. That is our logic as well for ENCs and AIS targets

I agree that user selectable offsets for vessel GPS antenna position would be useful for large vessel navigation in some cases. But really, the inherent GPS positional uncertainty approaches the vessel dimensions for most OCPN users, thus the low priority.

Perhaps with more user input we could raise the priority level of this feature somewhat.

Thanks again
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1227

Hotrod,I (and P_dub),I don't get it,still. .I'm assuming you mean as in:
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post727263
...note the little red dot, which is a boat,to scale.edit:the ship=route is 'to scale".The larger shipicon is oversize...A scalable icon would have to be quickly adjustable on screen or I'd go nuts...more nuts,I mean.

I like to look in from the cockpit and SEE my boat on the laptop screen. If she gets smaller with the scale,I will lose her pretty quick.Navigating on smaller scale charts is pretty blunt anyways,so the accuracy isn't there in the first place.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1227

If the "little" red dot is small on your laptop, you should change your resolution to a lower one (eg. making everything bigger).

The "red dot" own ship symbol is far to big when zooming out and to small when zooming in. Well, not to small, but smaller than what it should have been.

Adding two more pictures.

First at zoom 200, second at 1000.

Look at the lenght of the vessel (it,s set to 8 meters in the config)
First it reads 3,9 meters (scale 200), second it reads 15,5 meters (scale 1000).
This is totally wrong.. It should meassure the same size (with meassuring tool) no matter what scale the chart is, but it does not do so.

Look at the size of buoys and lights, these scale like they should. Own icons and own vessel does not.
Own vessel is 13mm long on my monitor (1680x1050) no matter what chartscale i'm in.

When it comes to accuracy, I can more or less follow the land contour with maxsea and the contour would maybe be 2 meters away from my vessels side both visually and on the chart (CM93 Aug.2011).
I would say this is accurate... But in OCPN the boat would cover the shore, due to the size of the icon.

I tried to import many of the previous fishing spots (marks) I had, but it got so crowdy that I had to remove them to se the chart...
In maxsea and olex, no problem... Own vessel and own marks scale as they should...

I don't know another way of explaining this issue.
It has been posted a few times in flyspray as well...

If it's a bug or not... It's a greyarea... A bit of both.. Bug and feature request...

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1227

Funny,I see it exactly opposite. The Only way a truly to-scale icon is going to be seeable is to zoom in way beyond the chart's accuracy(and yes,I do this) or get a much larger scale chart than any I own.

oh well.I'd probably love a scale-slide doohickey if I had it,but I used to hate the teeny little boat I was stuck with in some other apps.I had to attach a long "look-ahead predictor line to see it.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1227

Happy Seagull, if you have CM93 program and the files with it, look at the vessel adjustment and antenna. This is a must when navigating in restricted area. No matter what some people say, that is the way it should be. It is up to you programmers to do it or not. Your program will expand depending on what you will do with it. At the present, I am quite happy with it except for a few things that could be for future improvement.

Re: OpenCPN Version 2.6 Beta Build 1227

1. Is it possible to make some other comfortable way of zooming maps,
for these people without mouse in netbooks?

2. Currents are displayed bad.
Only colours instead of arrows and no way to guess current diection.
some current gribs are here:
http://sailingweatheronline.com/currents.html.
Please correct this, it is so important for me and my friends.

greetings
Andrew
