Thanks

That's understood. Bigger screens as well as higher resolutions (the upcoming 4K stuff or retina in the MAC world) will require a different approach like icon sets of adopted size.

Given the experimental character of the touch interface, you might perhaps a open a dedicated thread?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1606 Released

Hello Dave,

Very old little problem not solved.

Route manager, tracks manager, waypoint manager and (now) Layer manager.

A window opens to verify that wants to remove a road, track, waypoint or layer, speaks half in French and half in English. (same problem with other language)

The items "Yes" and "No" are not translated because these two items have disappeared long ago, the pot file.

Here join a screen copy for example.

Best regards, Gilletarom.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1606 Released

Gilletarom,

language support has several issues.

One of it is that the standard wxWidgets mo files was never used. These files are called wxstd.mo and are supplied in several languages with wxWidgets.

Another issue never solved is the fact that same english strings with different meaning in different plugins mo files or main mo files gives a mismatch.

Because there are so many plugins now it is sometimes also needed to declare the right language file several times in the code.

One of the reasons I make my own genuine german version.

Gerhard

Hubert,
please don't forget wxWidgets has limited features. So to support Retina display on Macs will be a great task. I have explained it here:

Maybe we could just make the icon size variable? Larger icons are needed for touchscreens and high pixel density generally, but also the individual user may prefer a different size.

Yes, and SVG based would be great as scaling is then a none issue. But does wxWidget give that option? And what about rendering of chart symbols?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1606 Released

Dave,

might it be that the default width for tracks went up from 2px to 3px as well?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1606 Released

Baikal...

We should not crash, even with bad or poorly formatted S57 ENC cells and transfer sets. We should just report errors, and maybe fail to render.

More details, please...

Thanks
Dave
