Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1105 Released

Great job guys!! If only the Congress could work like this!

I have created a route round-the-world in OpenCPN,following the 4th annual Vendeé Globe single handed race starting in 3 days from France and was amazed to experience the automatic creation of great circle routes where required.

Many thanks for a job well done!!

The dashboard is not docking anymore (Windows 7). But for the rest it is an excellent job improvement. Thanks a lot for this edition.

Please provide more detail:

How many dashboards do you have?
Horizontal or vertical?
What instruments?
Do you get the shaded rectangle along the edge when dragging the dashboard?
If you create a new Dashboard, still the same problem?

Platform?
Type of charts?

What does "cannot delete" mean:
- You cannot select a chart in the group?
- You do not get the "Remove chart" button activated?
- Nothing happends when you press the button?
- ...something else??

Can you elaborate a bit more? Is this an existing dashboard (that is, before the upgrade) or a just created one? Did you try to change any dashboard configuration since the upgrade?
Lots of things changed but the whole docking mechanism is handled by wxWidgets, not the dashboard. It may be related to saved perspective (your dashboard size, position is saved to restore it on restart. That, again, is handled by wxWidgets)
Can you try to switch your dashboard vertically then horizontally (or whatever it is now) and try again? BTW, there's now a context menu for this, try right-click on any dashboard...

Thanks,
Jean-Eudes

Can you repeat the crash without any plugins installed?
If not, try to see which plugin is causing the crash.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1105 Released

Thanks for the good work for this version!

It seems that we have lost the option for "AIS port (shared)" in the COM settings and, again, I cannot get the GPS data from the AIS communication port. It works OK when I connect a separate GPS at another COM port. Can something be done for this?

thanks

Alexandros

No it's not lost. In fact, from now on all ports are shared. The system doesn't differentiate between a GPS port and an AIS port, they are just different data port that get merged together.

So if you have GPS position messages (RMC/RMB or GGL+GGA) in the stream coming from your AIS unit, they should be picked up.

So check your Accept filter settings and the NMEA Debug window.

One dashboard, GPS, AIS reception, Vertical dashboard, have a shaded rectangle when dragging to the right hand side and the dashboard is OpenCPN.
It does not dock to the upper right hand side as usual.

Can you try the following:

- Close down OpenCPN
- In your opencpn.ini file, locate the [AUI] section.
- Show us a copy of the text of this section here.
- Delete the [AUI] section.
- Start OpenCPN and see if the same problem still exists.
