Importing Waypoints

Hi, All!I have seen some discussions on this topic, but have been unable to resolve the problem...I use GPS Utility to create GPX file for waypoints, but when i try to import into Opencpn, there are no waypoints visible. Any easy answers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! I have read this series of posts, but I guess I'm not technologogically savvy enough to follow the comments. I couldn't figure out where to add the extensions to the file...and I'm not even really sure if that is the fix.
Currently I'm running both Fugawi and SeaClear which import directly from my GPS files. Is there a similar way to import waypoint and route files from a GPS in Opencpn? I do like the otherwise simplicity of Opencpn and would like to try it out in real-world conditions.
