This thread is intended to be a source for free ENC charts.

There was a recent post about Netherlands ENC charts, the link was direct to zip. Can't find it now, but here are some other links to free ENC for Netherlands

OpenCPN.org has a page with all known chart sources at Chart Sources | Official OpenCPN Homepage . This page started 2010 and contains all sources we know of.
If something is missing, or incorrect, please correct it or tell us on this forum.
Right now the Brazilian link is down. It looks like an internal error on https://www.mar.mil.br .
I just updated the Argentinian link.

Seems that the links at the CHM site for charts are broken - ENCs as well

It might be interesting to inform the CHM that OCPN is as well an option for their users regarding raster charts as it does not appear in the listing.
And that we do cope ENCs too.

Strange. The ENC link was working yesterday...
The correct ENC address is https://www.mar.mil.br/dhn/chm/box-c...etronicas.html.

But note that there are no free ENC downloads. Just links to IC-ENC and Primar.

With respect to the ENCs it's clear that those are not free.

Would like to point CHM to the opportunity to explore other ways.
And that OCPN - open software, in Brazil a very welcomed way by the Government - is prepared to work with their charts.

In the Brazil case in this moment Chartworld would provide the ENCs.

Sadly for someone travelling, who will only be in an area for a short time, it is prohibitively expensive to buy all the charts at €13 each. That's crazy money, it's like buying paper charts. (But locked down to only work in one program. Right. Why would I buy that again?) We're talking nearly €2,000 just for the coast of Brazil! Then there's Argentina, Chile... probably many more charts of those countries, since the charts are divided into such small areas and Patagonia has a lot of little bays and inlets...

Yes,

it just shows that the work of the HO's is not directed to the pleasure craft sailor.
We can only work to make the electronic charts more economic for the non professional use.

Btw.: in the Brazilian case licensing for a 3 month period brings the cost down to 4€/chart. The charts will be usable after that period not getting updated anymore.
