compact CM93 charts ??
My set of CM93 charts covers the whole world. Can one make a selection, so that only a certain area (eg the Virgin Islands) are covered?

Yes.

The OpenCPN manual/help has a write-up on the structure of CM93 files. Once understood, you can copy only the section of the globe you are interested in.
