Hello Marco,

The line I get is..

'findstr' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

A search of my machine finds findstr in
C:\WINDOWS\system32
and
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386

I'm running windows xp.

Hope this helps..

Many thanks.

Cam.

That is bad. Maybe some SW has changed the PATH variable permanently.

By the way, you can try to open a cmd and type path

you should get a string containing something like:

PATH=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\sys tem32\WBEM

This is the standard string. Something might have been added, but those 3 folders must be in the path.

If they are missing, try to add them: open "system properties" (start->run command->sysdm.cpl) go to advanced tab->environment variables. You can double click on PATH system variable and add the missing folders (use ; to separate folders.)

Let me know.

Ciao, Marco.

I have just calibrated an enormous 7MB chart covering all of Denmark in great detail.
It is not a nautical chart but prepared by the Danish cartographic department in scale 1:850.000. I used 10 calibration points. The calibration is 'reasonable' for an overview but not accurate. I did not initially calibrate
the map corners in MapCal and had not saved the header to re-adjust the calibration.

As the converted .kap charts are also readable in Shipplotter,I loaded the map in Shipplotter and was able to pick out the four corner geo-references which I then used in MapCal. What surprised me in Shipplotter was that all of the MapCal calibration points were visible,geo-references and all. Well, have a look at parts of the map....

Wish list
openCPN is an interesting navigation software.
I normally use Fugawi and more and more MaxSea. Both this system has NMEA monitors that is very useful when hooking up nav stuff in a boat and/or trying to fix a problem. Can this be added in openCPN?
Both above system has a pointer in front of the boat symbol when under way showing direction, and the length of the pointer is depended of speed/min. Can this be added in openCPN?
Now we have the possibility to see the GRIB files in openCPN. This is very good! In MaxSea there is a possibility to add colours to increase the visibility and understanding of the GRIB files. Can this be added in openCPN?
Maybe this has already been posted in the forum before, but I think this will improve openCPN.
Sorry that I only can ask for upgrades and not has the skill to contribute to the development of CPN

Jan...

I think OpenCPN already have the possibility to input NMEA data, look in the Toolbox.

You mention that OpenCPN also have GRIB facilities? am I missing something?
I think Dave is working on it but I can't see that it has been implemented yet.

I think also the leading vector line is there when you activate your GPS and get under-way.

I have also used Fugawi for years and now Fugawi Marine ENC..

Yes input is ok. I was more thinking of a monitor where you can see the NMEA strings, satellites, etc.
The GRIB-files is in ver.1.3.5 very nice.
Vector line, has not used openCPN "live" yet, just armchair navigating. So when spring will come there is much to discover! Can it be adjusted?

You may wish to try CapCode for java free software wind dials. Alternatively, navmonpc (closed source but free of charge) has comprehensive dials - on windows only..

New mc2bsb available.

Sorry, Marco, I've been setting up my new machine. Just went from an old P4 to a quad core. Wow.

New version of mc2bsbh is now on the site for download. No new features, just small bug fixes.
