Used Charts

Planning to make the trip from Galveston to Belize in the next year or so and I'm trying to accumulate some paper charts, any suggestions, I don't really want to buy new if I can help it. Thanks in advance.

Dave,

Walk the docks in Galviston and ask to speak with the second mate on the commercial ships. The second mate is responsible for keeping the ship's charts up-to-date. It is now "illegal" to keep old charts on the bridge of commercial ships and the second mates are usually quite happy to get rid of old paper charts.

In preparing for my 2003 trip I contacted a seller I noticed on ebay selling charts in qty's of 2-3 . I emailed him and told him I needed LOTS of charts and gave him 3 months to get them together with my travel plans. He then mailed me at one time huge qty's of charts for $1.50 ea.
I'd go that way again. And as the previous poster he was a merchant marine.

However we used Garmin Bluecharts every day.........Never the paper
