aisdecoder, Fedora 26, descriminator output, OpenCPN

Hi All,

I've been slowly (over several years) been re-commissioning a 1924 gaff ketch, which has included various bits and pieces to facilitate AIS reception via a cut coax aerial in the mizzen mast.

This aerial is connected to VHF radio which has had its discriminator tapped.

I have a C-30 laptop running Fedora26 and OpenCPN successfully.

I've been attempting to install aisdecoder, and after some time and gentle application of patches I've managed to apparently successfully compile the program ("make" runs without glitches to 100%).

I thought I'd got to the stage where I could test things with a downloaded sound file, and then retire to the boat and plug all the hardware together, congratulating myself on a job well done.

I ran this command:
Code:
$ ./aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder -h 127.0.0.1 -p 12345 -a alsa -d

but got this reply:
Code:
bash: ./aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder: No such file or directory

I hope someone out there may be able to assist.

Probably not based on this information.

Code:
ls -la ./aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder
says what?

Code:
ls: cannot access './aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder': No such file or directory
And you're right; I'd be able to help myself more if I knew the right questions to ask.

It is pretty obvious you are trying to execute a file that does not exist. So the right question probably is: where is the executable produced by your build really? And then what is the directory you are in now?

I think the binary file "aisdecoder" is in the "build" directory (home/foo/Downloads/aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder)

Question 2: Home directory

Yes!

But running make install as root gives:

make: *** No rule to make target 'install'. Stop.

Re: aisdecoder, Fedora 26, descriminator output, OpenCPN

Well, then from the home directory you should certainly be starting
Code:
./Downloads/aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder
and I am of course interested in
Code:
ls -la ./Downloads/aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder

Re: aisdecoder, Fedora 26, descriminator output, OpenCPN

Thanks, output of

Code:
$ ls -la  ./Downloads/aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder
-rwxrwxr-x. 1 foo foo 22336 Oct 20 14:39 ./Downloads/aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder
And appears that the program executes with:
Code:
./Downloads/aisdecoder-1.0.0/build/aisdecoder

Thanks for your help, seems I should have put aisdecoder-1.0.0 straight into my home directory. I'll continue the adventure!
