Ais alarms

Hello, I'm a sailor not a coder..

When sailing I have AIS alram on.
Usually a good thing but...

When sailing parallel courses the alarm sounds on one wave and goes off the next wave. Target turn red and green on one or the other wave.
Pressing "Ack" does not help as the target turns green on one wave and ret the next one. This gives a new alarm. Is it possible to save the "Ack" button fo a few minutes so it's not sending new alarms every wave.

Is it possible making different alarms on Class A and Class B objects?
Class A is usually a 100 m ++ freight ship while class B are other boaters.

Passing 50 m in front of an other (class B) boater it is easy and a very safe distance. at 4 knots.
Passing 50 m in front of a 400 m (class A) vessel can be suicidal.
Both alarms are the same in OpnCPN

Thanks for making Open CPN as great as it is already and maybe this post can make it even better.

Re: Ais alarms

Carsten...
If you are in such a crowded area I suggest you turn all CPA alarm off and instead have a close look out. Personally I often use AIS targets right click menu: "Show CPA for AIS target" for ships where extra attention is needed.

If the target in parallel course is your fellow you can use MMSI properties to avoid CPA alarm for a certain target. See: https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...msi_properties

Re: Ais alarms

These are all very good points. Would you please make a tracker feature request, starting your title with AIS alarm suggestions, and then explain your rational and detail for each piont?

You will need to register for tracker and then add a new tasks. Tracker is found theough the main website.

Once you complete this vote for it. I will too.
