Standard Horizon CP190i and Sitex MDS-1 radome

Has anyone experience this combination? My CP190i is small, but non obtrusive over the wheel of my 35' sailboat. I intend to cruise in Maine next summer. The MDS-1 has low consumption and small profile. Its price is adequate.

Not exactly like yours but similar. I have the CP300i & the MDS-10-5, my original plan was to add radar to the CP300i but then decided the screen size was to to small. I found a used Si-Tex colormax wide, it has the same screen as the 300 & works fine as a stand alone radar. I'am very pleased with its performance, it will pick up channel markers on the river at well over 3/4 of a mile. Small aluminium Jon boats are no problem but small fiberglass runabouts don't show up very well till they're within a 1/2 mile. I have not done much adjusting of the unit to improve the return of the fiberglass runabouts mostly because the tows & channel markers are going to be what I'am interested in if I get caught out in fog or other adverse conditions. If I was you I would consider a larger screen I think you would be safer & happier with it but you can try it on yours 1st & then decide. Here is a couple of screen shots of mine while out on the Mississippi River, in both pics you can see how well the channel markers show up. Good Luck Click image for larger version
