B&G Zeus Touch 2 connect to Raymarine Backbone?

Help.....I have installed the new Zeus Touch 2 on the boat and bought a 5 meter Raymarine Backbone cable to connect the two together.....I have a new Raymarine Auto Pilot and want to use the GPS sensor with the Zeus.

Both the yellow ethernet outlet on the Zeus and the backbone cable (A06036 part number) are female connectors. Both are 5 pin.

Does anyone know where to obtain the proper connector for this?
Also, can someone tell me what N2K stands for?

Thank you.
Darrel

You have a bunch of reading to do.

You need to understand how to build a NMEA 2000 backbone and how to connect the devices properly. Its essential to ensure the devices operate properly.

Re: B&G Zeus Touch 2 connect to Raymarine Backbone?

I have just gone through the raymarine nightmare upgrades and I found out quite a bit. Any instruments cannot be directly connected to the backbone, you need connect to a spur. Raymarine Color codes the cables, blue for backbone, white for spur cables. I had to get a five port adapter and connect a special spur cable that mates Raymarine to N2K to get it to work with my N2k devices (n2k is NMEA 2000) which Raymarine uses but changed all the plugs to make it incompatible.

Re: B&G Zeus Touch 2 connect to Raymarine Backbone?

The yellow ethernetcable on Zeus is only for conecting to the Wifi module GoFree. You MUST use NMEA2000 (N2K) with a N2K hub to get these talking to each other.. ( But be aware you have GPS in the Zeus2 also - inside antenna) . It can be a problem using Zeus autpoilot function to remote oper the Raymarine....

Hhhmm I have 4 different brands on my boat and they all speak to each other without issues. The key is understanding how to install them and following it to the letter. NMEA 2000 is a standard and as long as the manufactuer conforms, then there is no issue. Just like different brands and devices on the Internet.

I dislike Raymarine as they decided to make thier own standard for connectors that makes is very confusing to mix with other gear. In my recent refit, I replaced all my Raymarine gear (except AP) with other brands because of this.
