Add my sailboat to Ais tracking sites

I have added a Icom radio with Ais and registered with BoatUsved and received a mmsi number. My issue is that I cannot find my boat on tracking sites like marine tracker.com. I have the Ais that both transmits and receives Ais info. So what do I need to do?
Thx John

Hi,

You not do nothing more, it must show if boat in range and shore station worked
but it's not online, some delay possible

If other boat saw You - all ok

You can also register on Marinetraffic for add some info abour Your boat - like photo and etc

An ICOM radio does not transmit AIS. It only receives.

What is the model number and name of the unit you think its transmitting AIS?

MarkJ - absolutely right if You install VHF with internal AIS receiver, I mean You install VHF + AIS Transponder of course

If your AIS both transmits and receives... it may just be you've not yet been within range of one of the volunteer receiver/repeater stations. That can happen a lot (in fact, we're transmitting now, but not within unobstructed range of receiver/repeater sights... so we don't show up on line either at the mo).

FWIW, our AIS unit required more than just MMSI info: vessel name, length, etc.... so you might double-check your ICOM setup directions to see if you've completely filled in the various data.

I thought the new (500?) ICOM big beefy sucker has a transponder unit that can be attached.

Thats an Icom vhf and a seperate unit called.... an AIS.

They don't make a stand alone VHF with AIS transponder. However, yes you can attach a totally seperate box

There is no way anyone is going to mistake that for a VHF.

Yes it does plug into the VHF: "When connected to a compatible Icom VHF radio. It's easy to make an individual DSC call. Select a vessel using the MA-500TR's cursor keys and then push the "DSC" button on the MA-500TR. It is not required to input an MMSI number manually."
MA-500TR Class B AIS Transponder - Features - Icom America

They dont make a Class B box without a screen, like Raymarine.

The only other one they make is a AIS Recieve only and again its in its own box

Dual channel receive capability
The MXA-5000 receives both Ch. 87B (161.975MHz) and Ch. 88B (162.025MHz) simultaneously. This dual channel receive makes the MXA-5000 more flexible for obtaining AIS information from AIS transponders that operate on only one channel. In addition, the MXA-5000 also receives both Class A and Class B AIS data.

So yes, we do need the OP to clarify what he's got Can he confirm which photo is his?
