Re: Sailboat purchase in Pattaya.

Thanks for your information, I will definitely check out these options. Do you happen to know how long the passage to Ri-Yas Heritage Marina in Terengganu might take?

Re: Sailboat purchase in Pattaya.

The simplest solution is to make the sale conditional on taking delivery of the boat outside of Thailand.
That is SOP for boats for sale in Phuket.
Once the deal is made with deposit, the new owner takes delivery in Langkawi, so no sales tax is involved

I was only suggesting stealth wrt the residents and authorities of that specific town & province.

There are many suitable Immigration offices along that coastline, including some of the busiest ports in that part of the world.

But Langkawi itself is far away, west side, another ocean almost. Would not be hard to pick a Malaysian seaside town on the east coast.

Edit, Terengganu looks good.

Sailing can be very slow, not steady winds. How fast can the boat motor?

Getting everything organized to leave can easily take ten times longer than the trip itself.

Do not solicit pickup crew in Pattaya, even among the expat community.

Bangkok, maybe, but best IMO would be, fly them in from Malaysia, ideally from the port you're headed to.

Again, do not reveal their employment status! Just a bunch of friends partying a few weeks in the LOS.

Singapore for the actual shipping part is the best, but not likely to be inexpensive, just living there a week or two can cost more than six months in Thailand.

Hi John,
I was only using the Phukett to Langkawi procedure as an example...
My point being... Let the Seller take the boat out of Thailand.

.....If there is a problem..
.....its his problem!
Yes Terengganu looks good
