Gives you a vacation now.
Saves money now.
Education starts now.
What's in your Must Have list maybe altered when you have that education and experience.


My advice is: Chuck food beer and wife on board and disappear into the sunset. In 12 months stop somewhere nice and do what actually needs doing.

Nothing worth having is easy, something my Father told me a long time ago, but he told me too soon. I had to discover that myself later in life.
But in order for something to be an accomplishment, it can't be easy.

Fear nothing. I retired at 35. It is the BEST thing one can do. Be thrilled!

Things ahead only look looming if you think about the big picture. But you will be tackling the transition one item, one day at a time.

You have just described about 75% of all cruisers out there that prefer to not go very far and hang around beautiful spots, nothing wrong with that.

Cruise for 6 months to 2 years then figure out what your next career will be.

Example:

After sailing all weekend, I had some actual excitement when my impeller failed on Sunday right when I was entering the very crowded creek where my marina is located. After the oil light came on, I shut off the engine.

Then the fun began.

After work today, I continues on the engine. This is report week so work was busy. Plus I had a guy quit and had to do interviews. plus..........

The guy in the slip across from me just finished a tile job. He was complaining how hard it was because he had spent the Winter with his well to do girlfriend on a cruise. He'd gained maybe 15-20 lbs. He says he's learned a lesson (again) and will work off the weight through working and racing his old sailboat.

He's 76 years old. His moto is use it or lose it........

It used to be I would pay USD200 a month in our land phone bills. Now in the boat, I chucked out that phone thing, got myself a VHF. The balance I spend on rum, sails and designer perfume.

What the heck, you only live once - when you retire and go sailing!
