Capable Cruiser

I just finished Capable Cruiser, by the Pardeys. Classic. Definitely on my 'must' list.

Wrote a post about it: http://thecruisingki...r-reviewed.html

Any other good recommendations for a sea library? Books that are a must for the cruising life?

I'm planning to read all the Pardey, Roth, Hiscock, Cornell books but always looking for more.

Re: Capable Cruiser

Thanks for the post. Have not read that Pardey so will have to find a copy.
I have gotten a lot from some older sources that are still easily found used.
Don Streets Ocean Sailing Yacht Vol. 1&2
Hiscocks Cruising Under Sail as well as Voyaging Under Sail

In spite of my traditional boat choice I'm not really a total nostalgia wonk but useful, interesting older gear and rig choices and sailing practices can get lost in the shuffle. Thes books are fun to read, sometimes useful and can provide a broader perspective on the world of crusing and outfitting. Easily worth the money. This is something I like about the Pardeys is that they have kept a number of good ideas and sailing practices alive (not to mention in the area of boat-building itself!).
For all that Webb Chiles' (Bly not withstanding..the greatest open boat sailor ever!) blogs, articles and publications are full of practical info and inspiration.
I like Charles Doane's (sp?) blog WAVETRAIN for the similar reasons but mostly for his ability to uncover somereally nice older sailing lit and bio material.
Love me some Moitessier for inspiration
Gosh could go on and on
