My guess is the Rat is sailing up to Aqua Verde and the crew have abandoned ship or been thrown overboard.....

The mice or rats started making noises under the house again a few days ago. ( I live in the woods) I just use rat poison, it comes in little cubes about 1" square. I throw a couple under the house (not accessible by pets) and 2-3 days later... no noises! Really not that complicated..... The little pelletts are messy and get everywhere..... so I dont use them any more...

We have a pellet gun you can borrow, better than my uncle's 44 mag.

Re: A Damn Mouse

Hi Reb, Charlotte, and everyone else,

About 27 yrs. ago, we met a retired policeman, with a Catalina 30, if I remember correctly.
He mentioned to us that he saw a rat on his cabin sole, grabbed his shotgun and dispatched it!!

....Also, the boat sank.

Re: A Damn Mouse

I think there was a Three Stooges episode along those lines. A "water letter outter", aka a hand drill was involved too.

Two years ago a new couple bought a used cabin cruiser up thr dock. First night onboard they carefully store all the canvas and turn in. In the am I'm walking down the dock and this guy is standing there in the boat, one arn holding his wife back, a boat hook in his right hand, terified and stabbing wildly at the canvas. "Moccasin, moccasin, god damn water moccasin". It was just a poor old black water snack, but pretty good size.

I reached in and flipped the poor thing out with my hand, he swam off quickly.

Never saw that couple again.

I think that mouse must have got them. They have been pretty silent lately...

The Wife set a glue trap once, she didn't think it through.

She caught a mouse, then felt sorry for the poor critter. So she took it out back and dug it out with a pocket knife. It ran onto her hand and bit her. She screamed and flung her hand up, launching the mouse.

Guess where it landed.

Yup, in her hair!

Now really freaking out she manage to relaunch the critter, who this time landed on the groned, and scampered off, collecting leaves as it went.

Yup, mousie must have been a pirate mouse--took over the ship and marooned them on some deserted isle.

Hope all is well with Reb's young child and pregnant wife. He's usually pretty loquacious.

On Dec. 21 he mentioned the baby was due in two months, so that would be around Feb 21.

Reb's last CF post was Jan. 2.

I hope they're just ashore doing some land touring, and not in a hospital with a premature baby crisis.

Yeah, I never was severely afraid of snakes until I went canoeing in Florida a few years ago. Ihad no idea those water mocassins were so fast on the water! not that big but....

Yeah, crossing the Sea of Cortez and nearing PV, I saw a big ball of sea snakes at the surface. Stopped to look.... it was like a 2 ft diameter ball of snakes... wierd....

these sea snakes go to beach to reproduce, and then back to sea--nasty critters, very poisonous..
