Was at Strictly Sail last weekend. One of the things I was looking for was weather gear">foul weather gear that were cut much looser.
Couldn't find a big store for this on line? Custom foulies? Or should I get the XL and have some tailor alter the sleeves/legs, seems that would weaken seams/waterproofing.
Andi, contact some foulie makers to see who makes your size. Forget about custom. If you can't find foulies, look to the camping stores and get a GoreTex or similar jacket and bib pants, they'll come in XXL and sometimes larger sizes, properly tailored and sealed. Yes, they'll work just as well in all but the worst offshore weather.
Take a look at Grundens. They've been making foul weather gear for commercial fishermen for a long time. They've just started marketing their product to yachtsmen and they make them in sizes up to 5X.
I have one of their light weight Gage jackets and like it very much.
I don't think I stock them in larger than XXL but I'd be glad to special order what ever you want from them.
Here is a link to the Grundens website: Gage Weather Watch Hooded Jacket ANSI

Re: Foulies for plus size
Hop Car beat me to it again LOL Grundens Foulies are the only type we have ever used in 20+ yrs. I use 2x myself. We also use mustang full suits with bilt in harness for them Cold days up north ! aways thought if it's good enough for the Coasties it's good enough for us ! Just my 2 cents
