Re: SIITECH AIS VESSEL LOCATER FOR ANDROID

Be wary of any internet based AIS system. Internet based AIS applications are only as good as the recieving stations in the area(if any) and the data connection you have. The receiving station in Portland, Maine goes down occasionally. The internet based applications show no AIS signals in Portland Harbor where my onboard system does.

True AIS is a boat to boat communication protocol. It can only be transmitted through the internet if there is an active receiving station receiving AIS signals via VHF and sending the data to the internet. These stations cannot be solely relied upon for navigation.

Re: SIITECH AIS VESSEL LOCATER FOR ANDROID

Like any other shore based AIS reception, the Yachtmarine/Siitech vessel locator is NOT for navigation,BUT for very useful information of vessel traffic, not only in your vicinity, but also far away in other ports and areas.

Please download this updated version:

Here are a few screendumps attached from my Galaxy SII phone.

You have several map/chart selections, depending upon country.
Uses REAL raster charts for USA and Brazil.

Re: SIITECH AIS VESSEL LOCATER FOR ANDROID

Seems there is a temporary problem with the Google Cloud Drive preventing your
download of the Siitech_AIS_locater.apk

In the meantime you can make an email request to tore.christiansen@gmail.com

Hope Google fixes it soon....

Here is the link to download the SIITECH_AIS_LOCATOR. I had to use Chrome to access my Google drive.
