BTW here is the same area on SasPlanet using the Navionics charts. You can see the same waypoint is exactly in the right place.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

I just released a new version of GE2kap that adds support for all the ESRI maps on SasPlanet. You can get it from the Downloads page of my website: Sample

Some of the satellite imagery is very good from the ESRI maps of SasPlanet. Attached is the same area as the previous posts of the Sea of Cortez from the ArcGIS. Imagery that is supported in the new GE2KAP.V25.0.0.5

Version shown as "25.0.0." is actually the new version '25.0.0.5'

GE2KAP.V25.0.0.5: ArcGis images are fine (with ArcGis.hybrid layer) on SASplanet161222 (latest nightly build) and latest sas_team-sas.plus.maps.
Navionics too are fine

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

How do I know if GE2KAP is working correctly out of the SASPlanet cache? Is it correct to say that if I'm still getting the red dots then it's not?

Assuming it's not working correctly, is there a particular place in the cache directory tree that I need to point GE2KAP to?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, the red dot should be gone...
*Make sure you're using the latest GE2KAP build (25.0.0.5)
*You can also download the latest SasPlanet build here
http://www.sasgis.org/programs/sasplanet/nightly.php
*The latest SAS.plus.maps folder can be found here
https://bitbucket.org/sas_team/sas.plus.maps/downloads
*With navionics charts displayed on screen, and 'Source' set to 'cache', check under the Settings/Map settings/cache and others top screen menu that you are pointing towards the '.../navionics' cache folder
Here is a sceenshot of a kap chart made with GE2KAP

sailorF54 Does the 'nightly' version restore images from Google Earth? They seem to have disappeared from the stable version.

SAS Planet Good News and Bad News

The Stable version of SAS Planet (160707) no longer displays Google Earth imagery. That's BAD NEWS.

The Nightly version (170113) does. That's the GOOD NEWS.

But more BAD NEWS is that the Nightly version has a lesser number of available maps. No Nokia/Hybrid, ArcGIS, etc.

Grrrrrr

Dare we hope the next stable version will restore these useful maps?

Terry

As you've already found out, yes

and I do have Nokia/hybrid and the ArcGIS layer

You have the download the latest sas.map folder here
https://bitbucket.org/sas_team/sas.maps/downloads
As seen from their 'commits' page, the Google Earth sas entry is regularly updated to keep in step with the newest version of GE...

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Thanks sailorF54. I renamed the old one sas.maps and downloaded the new one and renamed it sas.maps and then started sasplanet. It gave a bunch of warning messages about the same guid then came up OK. Now GE and all the rest work.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for checking up on this. Funny you should ask today, I was working on it for about 2 hours last night but I still couldn't get it to work. I have a couple of things left to try though. I didn't want to hassle you until I had tried everything I could think of.

I'm buried in doing tax returns for the rest of today, hopefully I'll get another chance to try it late this evening (UTC) or tomorrow evening.

Thanks,

Aedan

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

I have been told that the title "Use SASP Cache" is confusing it that it implies to enter the cache folder. You should only enter the path to where SasPlanet is installed, so if its installed in C:\SasPlanet.Release.160707\ just enter that. Do NOT enter C:\SasPlanet.Release.160707\cache\ or you will get orange balls
(which can be painful).

That, and the fact I was not clicking "Quilt", did the trick. I no longer have orange balls. Many thanks for all your help.
