Fish Aggregation Devices - Are They a Hazard to Navigation?

As well as affecting juvenile tuna populations in the Pacific
(see High-tech fishing devices wipe out tuna) ,

has anyone ever run into one of these buggers with their boat? Are they lit? Another obstacle to avoid.

In Indonesia they are everywhere! Sammler than Pacif ones, I spose.
We just deleted the photos of the yesterday. Pitty, you would love a look.
The ones here are a big raft with 2 growing palm trees and a line between the 2 palms with some foil/steel etc on them, I think for radar.

You sail past 5 to 10 each day. Dunno how many we sail past at night cos they are not lit!!!

That's just what the world's increasingly depleted fish populations need, devices that make it easier to catch fish. What surprises me is the State of Hawaii is sponsoring such a thing. Why not just encourage dynamite fishing?

And there are a dozen off the north coast of Tobago in the Caribbean and more just offshore of the French Islands. Normally they are charted or at least Notice to Mariners are posted and copied onto the cruisers websites.
