Yes it's 7 kg carry on. In the last 2 months I've had +30 hrs flying with 3 airlines and it's always been 7 kg carry on plus a computer and or camera. Unless of course you're in business or first class.

I imagine you could check in an unwrapped anchor as part of your baggage allowance which was $25 / bag up to 23 kg with United and Air Canada. Air NZ, 1 bag free. I'm not sure about extras.
People check in bikes, skis etc. as oversize. I saw hunting rifles in cases on the carousel a few years ago at Spokane

An anchor as carry on? I was joking.

Sorry about the thread drift.
Yes we did drag our anchor a bit on the thread. I suppose the idea is to arrange things so you don't pay GST in the first place if you won't need to. Perhaps that's what the Superyachts do. Or anyone if they can.

Re: Rocna's new anchor/ Hey, Anchor thread!!!

Swings and roundabouts..
I don't pay any GST in NZ on goods and services while my yacht is here but if I buy stuff here to take to a yacht in Fiji frinstance I have to pay the GST.

In Oz I can ( and have...from anchors to inflatables to sails) taken out as much as I can carry and no probs recovering the GST but - to the best of my knowledge- if I overhaul my superyacht ( which I am about to buy ) in Oz I am taxed on all inputs.
Probably why Oz has no superyacht overhaul industry.....
