Rocna's new anchor/ Hey, Anchor thread!!!

Interesting - did anyone else note that they only talked about "launches"? In UK english a launch is a motorboat. A yacht is sailbaot.

And they only showed motorboats in the part of the video I saw (it crapped out halfway through).

So maybe it is not a sailboat anchor.

I dont get it, the overly sarcastic critical treatment of rocna! Ok they made mistake seeking to increase revenue with chinese steel shortcut. Is that not a dominant feature in our capitalist societies I got a rocna anchor and discovered a never mentioned advantage for the roll bar, when rocna gets stuck, they do like all anchors, and to deep to dive it out, not getting it released from the bottom by your sailing around it, free dive to depth you can reach comfortably and catch roll bar with a hook attached to a line that you then lead to your windlass. I feel we should support innovation in design, criticise wgen necessary but realize that new designs will be agressively sold in comoetitive market. Honest, helpfull, sekf-critical marketting not good sales pitch! Yes the slot on mantus can help to get stuck mantus out, but I suspect very strongly that the slot in the mantus shank could be more trouble than its worth. A yacht sailing in the slot direction can pull the great gripping mantus, with roll bar, out of bottom when you dont want that! When you are sleeping deep secure at anchor!

Great for getting hold of the anchor and carrying it or feeding it from the anchor locker out through the bow and back in again.

You modern sailors are spoilt.

Try carrying a finger crunching CQR around. I am sure the designer of the CQR only put that hinge on as a practical joke

No he put the hinge there so someone trying to climb up the bow will have a nasty spill when they try to use the anchor as a stepping-stone (don't ask me how I know this)

Oh lordy, now all the new roll bar anchors are no longer new generation, but relegated to the old style anchor bin. I knew this day would come. Myself, I'll wait till the next-next-next generation anchors come out. By then they may be back to a rock with a hole in it.

I like the rollbar. Not sure what it does on the bottom, but it's nice for horsing the anchor around, but when helping to set it extra-good it in shallow water by hand, and when horsing it around on my bow roller, or pulling it on board for stowage, etc. After decades with Deltas, and before that CQRs, I love my Rocna.

You're talking about a Manson with the slot. The Mantus doesn't have one.
