Maxwell Nilson DC Windlass(1 direction)

Hello Everyone, I am new to the site so bear with me if I make mistakes.
I have a 1989 Symbol motor yacht(48 ft), just recently purchased.
The Windlass foot pad works intermittently.
Does anyone know what the model of the windlass that could have been installed.
I located a Maxwell sight, and it was a V1000, made in 1986???
Anyway I located a distributor in RI, Jamestown Distributors, which have foot pads.
Does anyone have any info?????HELP

G'day, Mate. Welcome aboard. FYI, the contacts in your switch might just need a cleaning up with a bit of light sand paper. You should be able to unscrew the foot switch from the deck, remove the waterproof rubber boot and service the contacts.

If you don't get any results, you should be easily able to replace the switch using the Maxwell foot switch available from a number of suppliers such as Defender.

All the best. Cheers.

Thank you for your reply and info, I am not with the boat so I have instructed the mechanic to exhaust all options before ordering a new foot pad.
Just getting the boat ready, so I can enjoy it rather than spend all the time working.
tks again

I have a Nilsson windless and the switch from Jamestown work fine with it. As said, try cleaning first.

G'day, Mate. There should be a terminal box or strip where the foot switch will interface with the windlass controls. Sometimes these contacts need cleaned or tightened up. Also check the main cable connections on the windlass motor to make sure they are clean. Cheers.
