Who Made My Hank-On Roller Furling ?

Calling historians...... several years ago, I bought a relic-- a roller furling system designed for use with a hank on jib. I thought I might have installed it to fly a second headsail. When I bought it, I did some research finding some history on the maker, only to discover I lost my printout. I am estimating they have been out of business since the 80's . I'd like to think about offering the set for sale, but I should at least be able to recover the info. Thanks!

Well I reckon we need a bit more than that... we're good... but not that good...
Don't suppose the name 'Minireef' rings a bell..

No, it isn't Minireef. I'd post a photo, but it looks like I'm not allowed.

Its probably an old Mariner unit, quite a nicely made unit.

Thanks Clockwork! You were right on . I was able to find the company's pamphlet with a Google Search.

At 10 posts you should be able to post pics now. If you have a problem let me or one of the other mods know!

And one option I thought of was FaMet for the furler you are trying to id.

oops! Looks like you have figured it out already!

Good work!

If a Mariner furling unit, it's a pretty nice setup. The Dashews liked them. I have two on my Bayfield 32. They won't permit reefing, but sail changes are so easy it doesn't matter. I serviced mine by taking them apart and cleaned the old dried grease then re-packed with marine wheel bearing grease. Worked great!

Re: Who Made My Hank-On Roller Furling ?

I agree salty, i had a mariner unit that i had bought on ebay,i ended up trading it away to a friend who needed it more before i got to use it, it looked well made and i like the concept. I have an old Famet like Sara mentioned on one of my boats and it too works great, it had a couple of bent foil sections when i bought the boat(from the mast falling down) but to my amazement i found a guy who had a lot of spare parts in his garage,i like the simplicity and it works as well as any i have used.
