There is no simple way. I just did ours the other day. Half them go in while the thing is upside down and then when mostly on the track the beads go up one at a time.
100 beads, 50 go in neatly and the other 50 take about 30 minutes.

When loading the new balls - use some shaving cream to keep most of them out of your scuppers!

OK, I will give it a try. It will be interesting to keep the balls on the boat. I am dancing on a mooring. Thank you for your replies. Vincent sv MAKAI

Use a towel to catch the bouncing balls. Nic was catcher. We lost NONE!

Have the towel or towels laid out so wherever there is a chance for a bouncing ball to bounce it will get caught

Steves idea of the shaving cream sounds good. I use an electric shaver....

Thank you for your help again. We got all the balls in and taped the ends until the last moment. The towels worked great (did not have shaving cream) and we did not loose one ball. We will go for a sail today and try everything out. Again thank you for your replies and help! Vincent sv MAKAI

If no shaving cream, K-Y jelly works good too.

When I bought my track assy. it came with a dummy track about an inch longer then the car. One can butt the dummy up to the main track and slide it right on. I keep that on board for just such situations.

How did the bearings get loose? I'd like to know in case this happens to Lewmar's often. I have a #2 myself.

I'm looking at servicing my traveller.
Mine runs smoothy for 20cm, then the friction doubles. It still moves at that point just with more friction. Is this a design feature to slow down the traveller if it starts racing out of control?
I don't think so...

Sounds like it needs cleaning. Pull the car to one end and scrub the track groves with a tooth brush sudsy soapy water and run the car back an forth in the soap. Then hose it all out.
If it still sticks then you may have some damaged torlon balls. An accidental jibe can break or flatten the balls.
