Why is it so hard to find an LED anchor light that isn't $600 and doesn't come on top of a six foot pole?

Hmmm, does it come with the weird eye in the top of it? How did you mount it? Are you happy with the results?

You can mount from a hook on top (to hang) or there are holes along the base so you can mount it to a bracket. You could also put it on a short length of PVC pipe and screw through that into the mast.

The shipping was no more then from the US. I have used it for years now and it is much brighter then any other anchor light I have had. I can pick out my boat in an anchorage by the brightness of the light... it is that good.

If you hoist that light up the mast with a halyard isn't it still going to be obstructed, in large part, by the mast? I mean you can't get it all the way up to the mast-head and COLREGS states it has got to be visible from 360. Isn't drilling holes through the bottom of the thing going to compromise it's waterproof integrity. I am sorry to be skeptical It just kind of looks like is was made in someone's garage. But by all means convince me otherwise and I will buy the thing. I am not a snob I just want to make sure I am getting the right thing.

I glued my Bebi in place in it's housing using polysulphide mastic.

I don't think it's going anywhere soon. Did take a while to set though.

Another vote for the Bebi "Owl" anchor light. Extremely bright, clever electronics (current regulator, not voltage reg,) built in light sensor to switch it off/on, LIFETIME guarantee, nice cottage industry development with mostly Fijian workers in Fawn Harbour... good vibes throughout.

If you are worried about obscuration, you could simply mount in your existing masthead fitting.

Yet another vote for Bebi.
I have used their interior lights for a long time. I have purchased 2 owl anchor lights that I plan to mount near the stern. At least 1 will always be visible The current consumption is very low even for an LED (0.065A) so 2 are not much of a draw, particularly with a sensor to turn them off in the morning.
Initial testing shows them to be very bright.

The LOPO lights (Lopolight Navigation lights LED based info@lopolight.dk tel: +45 3248 5030) are MCA and USCG approved; the anchor light is about $300.

Yet another vote for the Owl. Very easy to figure a way to mount, including the huge selection of PVC parts at your local home improvement store. My Owl is always the brightest light in any anchorage. Once I saw a light that seemed as bright as mine, and I went over the next morning: it was an Owl.

Total with shipping to USA was less than $40. Draws .09 amps. You read that correct. Over the course of a 10 hour night, it uses about one tenth of an amp! Automatic photo cel switch turns it on/off. What is not to like?

I bought an OWL anchor light a while back. I got the model with the 15' cord and automatic on/off switch. Great product. Nice people. Easy to deal with. Highly recomended.
