Bottom Paint Alternatives

I’ve got to repaint the bottom of my 55’ CPMY after 3 years. Black Ablative Paint was used previously and I’d love to get alternative recommendations (such as copper coat). Thanks in advance for sharing your experience. The vessel is in salt water.

There are different bottom paints that are best suited for different waters. Because of this, no one paint is considered the best worldwide. Paint also varies by how much the boat is going to be used, ones budget and the hull material. For example, aluminum cannot use a copper based bottom paint.

Ask around your local boat yards what paints they are using and why. Ask both the yard managers and the owners.
