Question about hull bottom paint and bottom coat (antifouling)

Hello everyone!

I'm still a serious noob despite the learning and searching I do about boat maintenance on my flimsy free time, so I need more knowledgeable input Hehe

I am working on a 1984 hunter 31, in NY state preparing it for launch. The bottom paint was fairly cracked (to be expected after being out of water since last October), so I scrubbed the problem spots gently with a paint scraper. On most areas I have a nice uniform light blue bottom, on the rest I have a white/grayish layer.. Should it be the 'inter protect' barrier coat?

Ideally I think I would have to scrape everything, redo the keel-hull joint, barrier coat, etc, but not this year.. I just need to have an idea of what to expect for next haul out..

Here's some pictures;

Re: Question about hull bottom paint and bottom coat (antifouling)

It can be either epoxy coat or else the bond coat. In any case, do not sand thru this one.

The area on the keel looks like the AF paint peeled off. This sometimes happens when you wait too long between the last coat of epoxy and the first coat of AF.

Looks fine. Nice bottom ;-)

Cheers,
b
