Re: Bilge trivia (identify spare parts)

Those washers have a key in them so they slide only one way into the aluminum tube... And there's lots of them, the springs go in the tube too, of course.

So, yeah, I'll agree with the ithers: a hatch opening device using a wound spring to open easily.

It's busted si chuck it. Chances of getting that lot in exactly as required are negligible.

Re: Bilge trivia (identify spare parts)

This 'junk' as you said is a very usefull thing... for me. It is in fact French Goiot hatch parts for the hinges. I was looking for the washers for a long time. I would like to buy a few of them. Theses washers with a tab are used as a stopper for the hatch, the springs and the aluminum tubing are parts for the hatch hinge. Very good stuff!. I'm interested!

Ummmmmm Elie, you do know these are very valuable parts I hope? Not available elsewhere and certainly almost impossible to replicate, so i guess they're worth somewhere in the region of about $500 bucks I would say.

$500 for washers and springs for Goiot hatches that for brand new hatches that are worth haft of that. In your dreams! Let say that $10.00 would be more like it. Or just keep them in your museum of usless thing into your Alibaba bilge. For ever!
Just for your information I had 2 washers custom made of stainless steel (much better than alumunum casts) and it cost me $15.00. Is this has anything to do with Nafta future negociations?...

Re: Bilge trivia (identify spare parts)

Some parts look similar to cockpit table support, others sorta furling foil socket bushings, some springs and a fire hydrant key or two.

These look like parts of a time machine from a bad Asimov dream ;-)

Cheers,
b.

It's a piece of Salmon fishing equipment used to attach a leader line with a large baited hook.
