Whale galley foot pump

The foot pump for the sink in my head seems to be very hard to depress or almost frozen up. Before I start tearing it apart a few questions:
Are these rebuildable and is it worth it,is there a way to lube it to free the pedal up and what's the most common problem with these units.

It actually sounds like you've got a blockage. When I forget to open the seacock for our saltwater foot pump it feels seized.

Re: Whale galley foot pump

Great info, i did not realize the faucet had a shut off valve so it turned out to be a slmple fix, good thing,it looked like it would be very hard to work on with the limited amount of room under the cabinet.
Thanks for the help.

These pumps are easily rebuildable. Use the link posted in El Pinguino's post and order the replacement kit. I just rebuilt one and it works great again.

Re: Whale galley foot pump

Can these be used for hot water, in a shower cubical for example?

I've got my water on an electric pump, but it uses too much water when it's used.
