Ride the Waves or Live With the Heel?

We are refitting our entire 44 gulfstar. We are instaling natures head composting toilets. The question we have been pondering is....ride the waves??..live with the heel n cop a lean??

What direction to face while using? I know it seems like a dumb question but very serious is one direction easier then the other.

I have just installed mine so you will be sitting looking astern. I think while underway it won't be overly comfortable either way? Plus it's the only direction I could fit it in

Re: ride the waves or live with the heel?

I've got an AirHead and it faces to port, but in an ideal world I would prefer to have it face either forward or aft. It is kind of hard to use if the boat is heeled hard to port, but not a problem hard to starboard. Frankly, so little time is spent there when offshore at an extreme angle of heel that I don't think it really matters that much. Just make sure you are reasonably comfortable when the boat is level and you are at anchor.

It depends which way you squeeze your head; front to back or ear to ear.

Facing forward would be my choice.

Re: Ride the Waves or Live With the Heel?

Excellent question.

I've spent 79% of my life on port tack, so I prefer a starboard-side head facing port.

Eliminates the need for a seatbelt.

My head is very small, and it IS hard to use the facilities when heeled. I'm going to put vertical hand holds in. (My head makes an airplane's bathroom look spacious -- OK they're about the same ... )

We have talked about hand rails. I think that's a good idea no matter what direction. Js. As for planes well most of the planes he flys bathroom is a ziplock back so ya...chuckles..big or small has to beat a ziplock.
That was probally tmi..sorry. I'm not always politically correct..
