I heard about one like that years ago. Ever since I've rigged the hatches with the hash on the cockpit side and the staple on the hatch. That way it can't latch if it slams on you.

It seems boats are the only vessel (here in the USA) that one can enter w/o a "confined space entry permit". I completely understand I did a complete hydraulic installation, rudder repair, large exhaust (3") installation, Wind vane mounts & whale pump installation all thru a small hole into the transom. Talk about cramps!*%#@***
