Losing RPM's

So I have a little 9.9 Mercury on the back of our dingy and recently I changed the gear oil, spark plugs, and thermostat (within the last 3 weeks). Yesterday I was out with the wife running near top speed (not all the way) with fairly minimal waves (1-2') and suddenly I start losing RPM.

Naturally I slow down and the engine seems to maintain a low speed (which is good to get my pregnant wife to the boat) but everytime I would try to get the RPM's back up it would start to die. Any suggestions on where the gremlins might be located?

Thanks for the input,
Mike

Re: Losing RPM's

Thanks Rick!

Replaced the fuel filter, haven't looked at the carburetor yet. Will do that tonight.
