Flexofold versus Gori

Bavaria 2007 42C Saildrive on Volvo d2-55, looking for a folding propeller, I came down to those two companies. Anyone has advice on one versus the other. Nothing is set in stone for now.

Re: Flexofold versus Gori

I had some issues with Flexofold when they gave me poor advise on size and pitch, cost me some money and they didn't want to take responsibility so be careful when dealing with them. That said they do make a good product and it's priced ok and very efficient in operation. I'd deal with them again but a lot more carefully.

Re: Flexofold versus Gori

I have had Gori 3 blades. Beautiful design and excellent backing power but very subject to wear and tear on internal rubber sleeve and very expensive zincs. Now have Bruntons. Much less expensive maintenance and easier to install zincs.

If you go with Gori, DO NOT use there "power" feature. Rapid shifting from reverse to forward can wreck your transmission or dampening plate. One of my dampening plate failed after 400 hours and there was no other reason for it to happen.

Re: Flexofold versus Gori

Flexofold 3 blade, over 3000 hours, no wear, no problems, excellent performance. I would buy another without qualms.

Re: Flexofold versus Gori

Have 18" 3 blade gori props.
Very strong and work well.
Use the overdrive function recently for about 300 miles saved us a heap in fuel use as we could motor at 1500 rpm instead of 2200 rpm.
The rubber internal bushes are not that strong and cost about $260 a set.
Last lot only lasted 12 months.

Re: Flexofold versus Gori

I mounted an Ewol propeller this summer and am very pleased with the performance, both sailing and motoring. Great effect in reverse.

Re: Flexofold versus Gori

Have used a three blade Volvo folding prop for 15+ years on my Cal 39, first with 4-108 and then D2-55. Very smooth and quiet with no cavitation.

Also available with saildrive hub with isolated rubber hub which is actually designed for the VP saildrive. Very cost effective as well.
