One time a mate who came sailing with us said the kids looked a little bit afraid when he spilt his drink on the teak deck, he reckons my daughter pulled him aside and said dad screams when things get spilt on the boat, kids say the damdest things, I explained to him that the kids just love the boat so much that they hate to see anything happen to her!

Sometimes the wife suggests holidaying in other places than the boat on the harbour, sure no problems I say, I will just sail the boat down the coast to a different harbour, Usually when this happens she throws the brochures of resorts and foreign lands on the floor (somewhat aggressively in my opinion) and goes off quietly to another room by herself (I assume to celebrate her own special way). She is obviously then busy planning for the bonus time on the boat because she doesn't seem to have any left over capacity to talk to me for about a week or so.

Anyway like I said, I can stop any time I want, BUT, you know, the things you do for family!

FORWARD TO 2022

hi i'm a new poster,my parents dragged me onto the boat at every opurtunity
as a child, learnt to sail at an early age.

John123.... That made me squirt my milk out my nose! Hahahaha. Funny stuff man. Well I'm glad I'm not alone. Makes me feel a little better. Found a 60 ft trash heap on the net. Motor sailor at one point. If I could get it for free I might take it... But the admiral said no.... Swing and a miss... I'll keep searching....

Re: What's wrong with me

once the seawater gets in your blood you are a doomed man. The only known cure for this type of seasickness is to sit under a mast somewhere where you cant see any land on the horizon...

Crusoe!, if I had that kind of money I would have never sold Nirvana. Well I probably would have and bought Crusoe. Wow! She is a beauty. I really like those Skookum boats. That Alden is nice as well.... It really is a disease.

Hi my name is Michael, and I used to be addicted to drugs, but I am still addicted to some girls, mostly the pretty one, and some cars, mostly the expensive ones, and all boats, but I like the fast and big ones...

Re: What's wrong with me

Sheeit! You guys all have a backbone with the rigidity of a worm.

Now take me and my wife. We're sailboaters. No addiction of any sort. Well, OK, on weekends we frequent the local porn store. Most women in these porn stores look at the clothing. My wife joins me looking at the hardware, shackles, lines, electrical dodads and whatever new porn toys our local boat supply pusher has just gotten in stock.

We don't NEED a boat. Well, OK we bought a house on the harbour with a private dock so our boat is only 8 meters from our kitchen door. And no, we didn't move the bedroom to the 3rd floor overlooking the water so the last thing we see when we go to bed is the mast and first thing we see in the morning is the mast.
And contrary to what our neighbors say, I do NOT lean out the window and kiss the mast before going to sleep.

We have a very nice terrace. In fact it is so nice that we don't want to mess it up by using it - that's why we have our cocktails on the boat. That's also why we eat dinner on the boat.

I'm completely loyal to my wife - OK like Jimmy Carter, maybe I've lusted a bit in my heart. Maybe I spend a little too much time walking the docks oogling other boats. Maybe one of them could seduce me. A couple of years ago there was a sweet little swan, with curves in just the right places. I could tell she was hot and would respond to even the lightest of touches. I broke into a cold sweat and had to leave or I might have done something inexcusable.

Sometimes, late at night,
when the moon is a pale white,
I see her dancing,
between the waves,
white sails full,
silhouetted in the reflections.

Hell - we can stop looking or sailing any time we want. (yeah - right LOL)

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: What's wrong with me

Being addicted to boats is not so hard on your liver, your brain cells, your waistline or your longevity in general as some other popular addictions. It may not even be as bad for your wallet as some of the more expensive white powders.

In fact, I see no down sides at all.

"My name is Jim, and no, I ain't got a problem" Say, why are all of you other guys here tonight?

Re: What's wrong with me

There is a support group for alcoholics and boaters - It meets at the sailing club bar at 5pm everyday.

You know - helping folks just getting started with their addictions...
