Rou-coo has some good points. Except the point of firing back is not to outshoot an automatic weapon, but to provide deterence. No one wants to be in a two way fire-fight, not even a pirate. That lone shot from a .22 handgun, or shotgun can kill you just as dead as an RPG. The whole idea of having a "weapon" makeshift or otherwise is to prevent you from being perceived as a "soft" target, and encourage them to pick someone else to attack.

Commercial shipping getting a bit more pro-active can only be a good thing - as need to degrade the Pirates capabilities by removing personnel, don't underestimate the skills involved from their side - yer don't move from potato patch to high seas pirate overnight. (probably a Pirate Forum somewhere with questions like "what's the best cutlass / ak47 style" and lots of "Go now" vs "prepare properly" debate ).

The Chandlers haven't work out very well for them have they...

END OF STORY
An artist unveils his mural of "Custer's Last Thought" at the local Western art museum.

In the foreground, a beautiful crystalline blue lake with a single fish leaping. Around the fish's head is a halo. In the background, the hills and meadows are covered with naked Native American couples copulating.

The curator is very angry and asks, "What the hell has this got to do with 'Custer's Last Thought?'"

The artist replies, "It's simple. Custer's last thought must have been 'Holy Mackerel! Where did all these f**king Indians come from?'"

Another award goes to DOJ.......again.

LMAO.....again.

Thanks DOJ as I have not laughed for a few days and really needed that.

PS I want to see the balloons with gas tried by that previous poster. Preferably on a YouTube video.

No it certainly has not....but the point is, if there were no money in it they would not do it.....I dont believe Governments should allow privet company's to free there ships with ransom money either....to me this is also common sence....it does nothing but condone the activity.

A lightning strike is more likely to happen than a pirate attack.

Has anyone in this forum ever been hijacked by pirates?...nope.

Hit by lightning?...plenty of people.

Pirates

I'm not going to get into the debate about guns onboard but does anyone know where I can get an AK47 or M16 in Malaysia? If not how about a 12 gauge shot gun? I would need ammo too.

I'm sure some are

I was more pointing out that mention the word pirate on these boards and it takes nanoseconds for "some" to suggest firearms, petrol bombs and violence in general as the answer.
