Classic Yacht in Cairns

This lump 'o lard spotted in Cairns on the outside of the marina wall.
if anyone is in Cairns, or gets to see it in port its well worth a nice 30 minutes having a look.
From one who hates anything made from trees, particularly if it needs beetle shells painted on, I can see how the varnish jocks would go goggle eyed.

Web site form its New Zealand service has some nice photos but doesn't do it justice. I can't find a better site for photos.

Shenandoah

1902 built and 165 feet of great beauty. I can only imagine what it would be like to sail.

Lovely yacht! The Shenandoah is a beautiful river in Virginia, with a song or two named after her. A nice name for a beautiful schooner like that.

What a beauty. And right on 100 years old. Can't even begin to imagine the maintenance cost.

No, I couldn't imagine either. But I am glad someone is rich enough to and has the will to do it. I am not so flash on museum pieces sitting in some dry, air-conditioned hall, but this is living history and so beautifully done. But its not history of a working vessel, this was never a working boat its always been a rich mans passion. It has always been a dalliance and I'm glad someone is keeping it that way
